Partnership Model
Not a sponsorship. It's even better than that.
We get it. Producing content can be time-consuming and expensive, and sponsorships can be a very attractive solution to those issues. Unfortunately, they can also be risky bets. We've seen some content creators get into sticky situations when a sponsorship later becomes problematic. Like the old saying goes, trust is hard to get and easy to lose.
Because of those risks and the community-oriented nature of the project, Signal Jam has abstains from soliciting or accepting sponsorship agreements. Instead, we've adapted the Value 4 Value model into something we call our Partnership Model, and it's super simple. Here's how it works:
- You have a cool product or service you want to market. We have a curious audience eager to try new privacy-enhancing tools.
- You make an exclusive offering to test-drive or purchase your product. We vet your organization and product/service in good faith and due diligence.
- We announce and endorse your offering for a limited time. You don't pay us a cent. No payments, rebates, commissions, kickbacks, or other financial incentives. Zero.
- You connect with potential new customers. Our audience benefits from a promising new product.
- The more content we produce, tools we distribute, and partnerships we facilitate, the more value our audience receives. In turn, they decide when and how to return value to Signal Jam, whether through volunteering their time and talent, or by donating to the project (something we still haven't even set up yet).
And that's it. We feel this model allows us to stay away from troublesome financial arrangements, editorial influence, and other non-sense, and allows us to focus on creating value and connecting community members. The risk on our end is that we eat the costs associated with maintaining Signal Jam, sometimes with no help. And that's okay. Ultimately, Signal Jam is not a money making endeavour, so we don't need to ask for hand outs.
