Submission Standards
Our goal is to help ensure the privacy community has access to enriching and productive content, and we carefully review all submissions. To be considered for publication on the blog, your writing must adhere to some basic ground rules.
A. Authorship & Title
You must indicate how you wish to be credited as author. You may choose your name, pseudonym ("pen name"), or simply choose to be credited as an Anonymous Contributor. Abstain from choosing names of public figures (e.g., Edward Snowden, Barack Obama, Marcus Aurelius, etc.).
You must specify at least one (but preferably two or three) preferred title for your article.
B. Locale
You must specify where your content applies, either in the article itself or as a note in your submission to us (so that we can appropriately tag it). You must indicate if your topic is relevant and applicable internationally, to a specific country, a region, etc.
C. Topic Relevance and Quality
The nature of the topic you present must materially relate to Signal Jam's core content of privacy and security. Since these are wide and diverse topics, nuance is allowed and encouraged.
Please abstain from low-effort content, like...
- this VPN vs. that VPN
- recycled, well-known, or universally understood topics
- hysteria, paranoia, and disinformation (a.k.a., FUD)
Instead, strive for...
- new topics, or substantive updates
- interesting perspectives
- specific tips, techniques, or strategies for employing privacy
- analysis of your locale's laws and policies that impact privacy
- thoughtful product/service critiques
D. Accuracy and Citations
Information you present must, to the best of your ability and knowledge, be truthful and accurate. Do not intentionally misinform others. If your writing includes statistics, or references to news articles, blog posts, videos, or other similar content, you must include links to those sources. Avoid citing undesirable or questionable sources such as tabloids, parodies, gossip/clickbait sites, etc.
E. Artificial Intelligence
Submissions must be original content, not written by artificial intelligence (AI).
F. Plagiarism
Do not copy someone else's work and pass it off as your own. If you submit content that is found to be plagiarized, your content will be immediately removed and we will decline to consider or publish any of your future work.
G. Explicit and Illegal Content
Do not submit violent or sexually explicit content, or other content which violates international law.
